The University of Applied ArtsVienna (Angewandte) is looking for a motivated and experienced individualresponsible for programming a database-supported Web application to interlink,document, and increase visibility of art, science, and teaching. The positionis availabe for full-time (40hrs/week), part-time, or freelance,with effect fromMarch 2016 at the Department of Support Art and Research.
As alocation for innovation in art and science, the Angewandte is working on afuture-oriented solution to digitally display activities in art, science, andteaching, as well as to support the work of staff, students, and alumni. At thesame time, this Web-based platform (“Base Angewandte”) aims for internationalvisibility of artistic and scientific activities at the university and itsenvironment.
You areresponsible for the concept development and implementation of Web applicationsto support staff, students, and alumni of the Angewandte in their artistic andscientific work (portfolio management, art and research database, teachingcourses, file sharing, events, etc.). As part of a small team you will beworking together with domain experts in art research, graphic designers, aswell as external cooperation partners.
Your profile
- Expertise and several years of experience inthe development of Web applications and Web application frameworks
- Experience with Python and Python-based Webapplication frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, etc.) would be an advantage
- Knowledge of Responsive Web Design andinnovative User Experience
- Excellent handling of Web technologies(JavaScript/jQuery, HTML5, CSS/Saas/Less, RESTful, SOAP, …)
- Experience with relational (PostgreSQL,MySQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB)
- Working experience with version controlsystems (git)
- Acquaintance with Linux Server environment
- Knowledge of ElasticSearch would be anadvantage
- Experience in the area of Linked Open Dataand Controlled Vocabularies would be an advantage

The minimum gross salary currently amounts to € 3.203,30 permonth (14x per annum) as per the wage agreement KV. Based on the wageagreement regulations, this salary may perhaps be increased by taking intoaccount certain job-specific experience or skills relating to salary-relevantparticulars of the position.
