    Im Department für Geodäsie und Geoinformation ist eine Stelle als Computing Server Architect (all genders), voraussichtlich ab sofort (40 Wochenstunden, unbefristet) mit folgendem Aufgabengebiet zu besetzen.

    Ihre Aufgaben:

    • Entwicklung innovativer IT-Infrastrukturen am Department für Geodäsie und Geoinformation und in der Fakultät für Mathematik und Geoinformation in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Fakultäts-IT und der TU.it
    • Ziel soll es sein, kreative und bisher nicht mögliche Prozesse in der Wissenschaft, der Forschung und der Lehre zu ermöglichen
    • Dafür notwendig ist die Lösung komplexer IT-Aufgaben auch in Zusammenarbeit mit internen und externen Dienstleistern
    • Zusätzlich helfen Sie bei den Planungen als Vorbereitung für eine bevorstehende Übersiedlung des Departments mit (in ca. 5 Jahren)
    • Außerdem sorgen Sie für eine Verbesserung des IT-Supports am Department

    Ihr Profil:

    • Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung (z.B. Lehre/HTL/Uni-Abschluss) oder vergleichbare Qualifikation
    • Fundierte Kenntnisse der IT-Technologien
    • Gute Kenntnisse der IT Security Standards inkl. Firewall-Lösungen
    • Sehr gute Kenntnisse von Linux- und Microsoft-Betriebssystemen (inkl. Active Directory)
    • Programmierkenntnisse
    • Sehr gute Deutschkenntnisse (C1), gute Englischkenntnisse (mindestens B2)
    • Eigenverantwortlichkeit und Kund_innenorientierung
    • Freude am Lernen
    • Team- und Kommunikationsfähigkeit

    The research division of remote sensing and its research group of microwave remote sensing in the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation at TU Wien is currently looking to recruit a motivated

    Software Developer and Data Manager

    You enjoy working in a scientific environment at the leading edge of research in remote sensing and modelling of geophysical variables? You want to work with researchers towards excellent solutions to the technical problems that scientific work poses? If the answers to these questions is yes, then this job is for you.

    Our remote sensing team consists of about 30 staff members currently working on approximately 20 projects supported by various national, European and international programs, grants and funding sources.

    To support the research work of our team, we are looking for a skilled software developer with a background or interest in geospatial sciences.

    Skills and Requirements

    • In depth knowledge of Python
    • Experience working with Python libraries like numpy, scipy and pandas
    • Strong foundation in both object oriented and functional programming
    • Experience in using Continuous Integration and Version Control (Git) is a plus
    • Experience working with big volumes (100 TB+) of data is a plus
    • Proven track record of writing modular, tested software is a plus
    • You love working in Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) but can get by in Windows
    • Eagerness to learn new technologies
    • An academic background in geodesy, geoinformation sciences, geomathematics, physical geography, mathematics, information sciences, or similar is not required but would be an additional asset
    • Strong analytical and technical skills and problem solving capability
    • Good written and spoken communication skills in English

    Sie werden Teil eines C++ EntwicklerInnenteams werden, das sich mit der Umsetzung von Forschungser-gebnissen im Bereich von Airborne Laserscanning (ALS) im Rahmen des Programmsystems OPALS (Orien-tation and Processing of Airborne Laser Scanning data) beschäftigt. Die Forschungsgruppe Photogram-metrie des Departments für Geodäsie und Geoinformation (GEO/Photo) der Technischen Universität Wien (TU Wien) zählt zu den weltweit führenden Institutionen im Bereich von Laserscanning. Der Schwerpunkt der laufenden Forschungsarbeiten liegt dabei auf: (i) Verständnis neuer Sensoren (z.B. La-ser Bathymetrie, Range Cameras), (ii) Sensor Orientierung, (iii) Prozessierung großer Punktwolken, (iv) Ableitung von Oberflächenmodellen, und (v) Anwendungen von ALS in Geo-, Hydro- und anderen Na-turwissenschaften. Wir bieten eine Vollzeit-Anstellung (40 h/Woche) mit mittelfristigem Zeithorizont von ca. 5 Jahren (nach erfolgreicher Absolvierung eines Probemonats sowie einer Evaluierung nach einem Jahr) mit optionaler Aussicht auf eine längerfristige Anstellung im Rahmen eines akademischen Spin-off-Unternehmens.
