Wir suchen grad dringen wen zum Besetzten einer offenen PhD Stelle, ist ein recht spannendes Projekt zum Simulieren und Berechnen von therapeutischen Stoßwellen im Körper. Die Finanzierung steht schon, leider nur für weibliche Studenten wegen den Regeln der Förderstelle.

The Ludwig Boltzmann Society (LBG) is a research organization with the mission to initiate new

research directions in Austria that address societally relevant challenges. The LBG operates 20

institutes in the fields of health research, the humanities and the social sciences. Each Ludwig

Boltzmann Institute is a partnership with one or several other organizations in academia, industry,

the public sector and civil society. The LBG employs over 550 people.


We are looking to hire a full-time female doctoral student in the “Extracorporeal Shockwave

Therapy” research group at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traumatology (LBI Trauma) by

March 2022. Located at the “Traumazentrum Wien - Standort Lorenz Böhler”, Vienn, Austria the

successful student will work within a multidisciplinary matrix from basic science to applied pre-

/clinical evaluation.

The chosen candidate will pursue a funded Ph.D. project of exploring computer simulations and

pre-clinical research on the application of ESWT for previously contraindicated tissues such as lung

and brain.

Main tasks

• Planning and performing of experiments in physical sound-field evaluations, in vitro, and in

vivo preclinical models;

• Development on numerical simulations of therapeutic sound fields based on experimental

data;

• Data analysis;

• Disseminating results through conference presentations and academic publishing;

• Active participation and contribution to the group’s open innovation and translation

activities;

Your Profile

• A completed Master’s degree in the sciences or enrolled Ph.D. students

• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: computer programming

(Matlab), data analysis, laboratory experience

• Good oral and written communication skills;

• Prior experience in acoustics and/or pre-clinical research are an advantage;

• International candidates are welcome

• Broad intellectual curiosity and good social skills to positively impact a transdisciplinary

project.

This position is an exciting opportunity to advance your education in a dynamic environment. We

offer a 3-year position starting immediately or as soon as possible. Currently enrolled Ph.D.

students can potentially continue their program within this project or begin a Ph.D. at one of 3

Universities in Vienna in a wide range of fields.
